Igor Stravinsky Metropolitan Opera 1981 poster by David Hockney (huge silkscreen poster)

£1,800.00

Artist: David Hockney

This one's a showstopper - and it's absolutely huge. Printed in 1981 and designed in its entirety by Mr Hockney to promote the New York Metropolitan Opera’s production of a Stravinsky triple bill of The Rite of Spring, The Nightingale, and Oedipus Rex, with sets and costumes designed by the artist.

Approximate dimensions: 205  x 88cm /   81 x 35 inches

There are some minor imperfections with this poster, in line with age and size. They are photographed below and noted as follows: upper right corner is creased, and there is a crease in the bottommost "head" and there is minor scuffing on the black (this is always especially pronounced on Petersburg's thick, matt black ink and does not detract from the magnificence of this poster.)

This is an archive poster, printed by the Petersburg Press in 1981, now collectable and in very short supply. Given its age the condition is very, very good; faults are detailed above. Our stock is sold as new. Please hang away from direct sunlight to prevent fading. The shipping class will come up as 'pallet shipping' but we send out posters rolled in tubes - in the case of this particular poster, a huge one! You can always pick it up here at Salts to save on these charges.
