David Hockney: New Drawings

£20.00

Author: David Hockney

This softcover catalogue was published by Salts Mill in 1994 to accompany the David Hockney New Drawings exhibition.

The book layout was done by David Hockney, assisted by Richard Schmidt, in LA. There is a foreword by David Hockney and an an article 'What it's Like to be Drawn by David Hockney', written by Jonathan Silver. One of the things that makes this interesting - and which Hockney rather relished - is that it's a colour catalogue of a black and white show.  The artist took screen grabs of video footage of his pictures, and then "the printer put an electronic layer of colours over everything. I have accepted this as a way to make a catalogue more interesting as a picture book."
