The son of a cabinetmaker, Welling’s fascination with production techniques, materials, and machinery was fired as a child. He went on to study at The University of Art and Design in Helsinki, and received his master’s degree in furniture design from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. Centred around the idea of creating technically accomplished products that can reach a wide audience, his designs are characterised by a great sense of proportion and quietly elegant aesthetics.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWelling has received a number of design awards, including the Bo Bedre Award (Denmark), Good Design Award (USA), and has been nominated as Danish designer of the year in 2013 and 2014.
