Fish & Chip Shop (1954) Poster by David Hockney

£14.99

Artist: David Hockney

This evocative image is one of David Hockney’s earliest prints. He created the original lithographs in 1954 when he was 16 or 17 and studying at Bradford College of Art.

Visitors to the Sea Catch chippy in Eccleshill, Bradford back in the day may recall one of the originals hanging above the deep fat fryer – the hungry young artist gave it to the owners in thanks for scraps.

Unframed dimensions: 35.7 x 46.5 cm

Text at base of poster reads: 'David Hockney Salts Mill, Saltaire, Yorkshire', then in very, very small type "'Fish and Chip Shop 1954 Lithograph in 2 colours 17 3/4 x 16 1/2' An edition of 5 c David Hockney Photo Credit: Richard Schmidt."
