Henry Moore
Henry Moore, the son of a coal miner, was born in Castleford, West Yorkshire in 1898. By the time of his death in 1986, he was an internationally celebrated hero of British art. Moore is best known for his semi-abstract monumental bronze sculptures which are in public places around the world. As well as sculpture, Moore produced many beautiful drawings, and was instrumental in introducing a particular form of modernism to the United Kingdom.
