The Story of Saltaire

£7.99

This 50 minute DVD film tells the story of two remarkable men - Sir Titus Salt and Jonathan Silver -  and the model industrial village of Saltaire, which is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Founded in the 1850s by Titus Salt, the mill and village were the marvel of of the age and became known as “the palace of industry”. After years of decline, Salts was resurrected by Silver in the late 1980's.  The Mill prospered once more as a place where art and commerce existed side by side.

Using contemporary footage, archive material and computer generated imagery,  this film gives a greater understanding of the motives and inspirations behind the two men who created the Saltaire of today. We show this film in the Mill - it's a useful resource for anyone with an interest in Salts and Saltaire.
