CH37 chair des. Hans J. Wegner, 1962 (made by Carl Hansen & Son)

£1,150.00

The CH37 dining chair from 1962, designed by Hans J. Wegner, is clearly inspired by the American Shaker furniture principles of simplicity, functionality and craftsmanship. The CH37 also displays many carefully considered details characteristic of Wegner’s style. The chair’s light, elegant appearance is created by the vertical round legs and a backrest which arches backwards - slightly more in the top than in the bottom - in order to achieve the best possible back support. The hand-woven paper cord seat and the gently rounded and flat armrests – fixed to the front legs with a distinctive cap – provide both comfort and sturdiness. The fascinating design of the CH37 dining chair offers a light and yet sturdy expression to comfortably seat many generations. The chair is also available without armrests as model number CH36.
