Checkerboard blanket / throw - Marine - by Hannah Robson

£460.00

This truly exceptional throw by artist and weaver Hannah Robson would look just as wonderful as a wall hanging as it would adorning any bed, sofa or chair - we also like to use them on tables.

This throw has been designed and made in West Yorkshire, starting with sampling in Hannah’s studio in Leeds, using yarns produced by local spinners. It has been woven by a highly specialist and skilled mill in Morley using mechanical punch card jacquard looms. It was also finished by expert fabric finishers in West Yorkshire. The designs capture the rhythms, patterns and colours of Hannah’s sculptural work using colour gradation and softly graphic patterns.

Robson took her MA in textiles (weave) at the Royal College of Art in 2016. One of the country's most exciting artists and weavers, she teaches at Bradford School of Art. Robson has also taught at the Royal College of Art, Central St Martins and others, and consults around the world from her base here in Yorkshire.

These wonderful throws are works of art with a practical purpose. Made from Merino and Shetland wool, they are not soft and cuddly, but strong and enduring.
