Quatre Systemes Rouges poster by Alexander Calder
£50.00
A stunning poster featuring Quatre Systemes Rouges , by American artist Alexander Calder (1898-1976). This poster is produced by Louisiana, Denmark.
Acrobats, tightrope walkers and celestial planets inspired many of Calder's sculptures. What they have in common is that they are constantly in motion, and that this movement appears to occur almost freely in space. But invisible forces ultimately determine how they move. In his sculptures, Calder wanted not just to show movement, but also to capture it and make visible the forces that bound the movement.
Many have tried to describe the playful grace of Calder's sculptures. The French philosopher, Jean Paul Sartre said
'A Calder object is like the sea. Eternally repeated, always new. One look at it is not enough. You have to live with it every day and let yourself be enchanted.'
