Anemones small poster by Henri Matisse

£8.00

Artist: Henri Matisse

Anemones is one of the many floral still life paintings Matisse produced throughout his career. During an interview with the Swedish art historian Ragnar Hoppe in 1919, Matisse explained that he had a garden filled with flowers and to him they were the best lessons in colour composition. For this painting the anemones have been defined by the strong complementary colours of green and red and further enhanced by the predominantly yellow and pink background.
