Detail from Multitude I Poster by Henry Moore / W.H. Auden (British Museum, London, 1974)
£95.00
A superb monochrome poster from 1974 recording the collaboration of two Yorkshire titans: the artist Henry Moore (1898-1986) and the poet W.H. Auden (1903-1973).
The poster was printed for an exhibition of poems by Auden and related lithographs by Moore at the British Museum, London. In the exhibition catalogue, Moore said of their working relationship: 'Two people who are very unlike each other can come together over something common to them both; the fact that Auden was a Yorkshireman, as I am, and that Yorkshire landscape has always been a very exciting element in my life, made a strong link between us."
The image on this poster is a detail from Moore's Multitude I 1973. The British Council writes that "With Auden's death in 1973, the whole project became a tribute to his memory."
Approximate dimensions: 19 x 29 in; 48 x 73.5 cm
