Richard Sapper's 1982 design for this stunningly beautiful kettle was inspired by a childhood memory; the poetic sound of boats' sirens on the river Rhine. As such, the 9091 Induction Kettle features a melodic whistle made of brass consisting of two small mini-tuners that reproduce the notes E and B to recreate the captivating melody from Sapper's childhood memory. As a result, when the 9091 whistles to let you know the water has boiled, it is with a sweet harmony that is sure to put a smile on your face.

About Richard Sapper:
Richard Sapper was born in 1932 in Munich. In the early 1960s, he began to collaborate with the Italian architect Marco Zanuso, together they acted as design consultants for Brionvega for whom they developed a series of televisions and radios. Throughout his career, Sapper remained keenly involved in academia, teaching at many universities. He received numerous awards for his products, and his designs are represented in the permanent collections of many international museums. In 2012, Sapper received the Merit Cross of the Order of Merit from the President of the Federal Republic of Germany. He died on 31 December 2015.
