A Small Planet Being covered by Large Mirrors poster by James Rosenquist (Whitney Museum, New York, 1972)

£95.00

An absolutely stunning large poster printed in 1972 for an exhibition at the Whitney, New York. It features the work of James Rosenquist (1933-2017).

Together with Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein,  Rosenquist is one of the greats of American Pop art. From the late 1950s, he was instrumental in establishing Pop as a movement, changing our expectations of visual art. Rosenquist worked as a billboard painter of American adverts, which fed into his desire and ability to work on a monumental scale. In the  60s and 70s his art reflected a complex society of consumerism, technology, severe brightness and deep darkness - and peered into a complex future.

Approximate dimensions: 27 x 39 in; 68 x 100.5 cm
