Jean Dubuffet was a French painter and sculptor who rejected traditional standards of beauty in favour of what he believed to be a more authentic and humanistic approach to image-making. ‘Ciseaux V (Scissor V)’ was part of a series of works by Dubuffet that were limited to the colours red, white, black, and blue.
