Design for Chairs for the Room De Luxe, Willow Tea Rooms, 1903 poster by Charles Rennie Mackintosh

£24.95

Charles Rennie Mackintosh was a Scottish architect, designer, and artist and was one of the most important figures in the Modern Style, an Art Nouveau movement specific to Great Britain.

In 1903 Mackintosh was asked to design the interior and exterior of The Willow Tearooms in Glasgow. Within the existing structure, Mackintosh designed a range of spaces with different functions and décor along with a new external façade. In collaboration with his wife Margret, Mackintosh designed almost every aspect of the tearooms including the furniture. This drawing features his design for the chairs that were in the most extravagant Room de Luxe.
