Exodus poster by Anselm Kiefer

This poster featuring En Sof (2020–22) was produced by Gagosian in 2022, in conjunction with the two-part exhibition Anselm Kiefer: Exodus at their gallery at 555 West 24th Street, New York, and Gagosian at Marciano Art Foundation, Los Angeles.

En Sof pictures a ladder between the heavenly and earthly realms, elaborating on the themes of loss and redemption that Kiefer explores elsewhere in Exodus. Pursuing a syncretic understanding of materials and approaching history, literature, and mythology as forces that inform the present, he combines references to the Judeo-Christian text with other sources and symbols in a meditation on deliverance and homecoming.
