The Ten Greatest Young Age (1907) poster by Hilma Af Klint

This exhibition poster is a celebration of art in which you can entirely lose yourself: the work of the visionary Swedish artist Hilma af Klint (1862-1944). The poster was created by the Louisiana Museum in Denmark for an exhibition there in 2014. 

Klint painted her "Tin støstø" in a period of only 40 days in the autumn of 1907. Klint never showed her abstract works in public during her lifetime, instead only exhibiting figurative works. “I had no idea what the pictures were supposed to represent. Still, I worked quickly and safely, without changing a single brushstroke," she recorded in her notes and diaries.   

Today Hilma af Klint is revered, but for many decades she was given virtually no attention.  A pioneer of abstract art, af Klint invented her own artistic language rooted in nature. She was a medium, creating otherworldly masterpieces she believed were commissioned by higher powers. Hers is a pictorial universe of the spiritual, the scientific and the philosophical.
