Martin Parr spent 4 years documenting the Black Country, from 2010 to 2014. 'West Bromwich' is from the 'Black Country Stories' photobook – published to coincide with the Black Country Stories exhibition at The New Art Gallery Walsall and Wolverhampton Art Gallery. A particular focus of the series is on portraiture. This is Norman Soper who won Best Pot Leek at Sandwell Show. Norman, we love you and many congratulations!

About the artist
Martin Parr is one of the best-known documentary photographers and photojournalist of his generation. Known for his satirical and anthropological approach to modern life. A Magnum Photos member since 1994, his work explores global cultural peculiarities with vivid colour and ironic compositions. Themes of leisure, consumption, and communication, run throughout his photos.
