Woldgate Woods, Winter, 2010 poster by David Hockney

£16.99

Artist: David Hockney

This beautiful poster captures a moment from Woldgate Woods, Winter, 2010 by David Hockney, a  video installation at Salts Mill.

Whilst living in Bridlington, East Yorkshire, Hockney enjoyed working with video. Cameras were rigged to the exterior of a 4x4 which would drive slowly around the countryside. Hockney created what he calls a ‘Cubist movie’ capturing moments in a literal moving picture: part of Hockney’s lifelong exploration of time, landscape and memory. The poster is a still from the movie.

At Salts, the Woldgate Woods installation is displayed amidst Hockney’s Arrival of Spring, his monumental iPad study of nature over a period of 6 months. The video art documents the very same road on a single bright and chilly day.
