Kettle 9093/1 - yellow - des. Michael Graves, 1985 (made by Alessi)

By: Alessi

The original po-mo kettle in a new, smaller size (1 litre capacity) and new colourway, taken from Graves's favoured palettes. This  stone cold (or should that be boiling hot?!) 1980s classic,  Michael Graves's kettle with its famous bird-shaped whistle has been making folks grin since '85.

Capacity: 1 litre

Diameter: 20 cm

Height: 20.5

18/10 stainless steel - mirror polished.

Magnetic steel base suitable for induction cooking.

The postmodern design mixes influences of European Art, American Pop and quotes from pre-Columbian cultures. Graves's unique visual language is the reason behind the extraordinary success of this object - smart, elegant, but at the same time playful and fun. When the water starts boiling, the birdie sings, and we smile.

Revered American architect and designer Michael Graves (1934-2015) was one of the principal figures in the postmodernist movement. He was professor of architecture at Princeton for nearly forty years

Alessi, established in 1921, is a lynchpin of superb Italian design, committed to making the ordinary extraordinary. “A true design work must move people, convey emotions, bring back memories, surprise, and go against common thinking” - Alberto Alessi.
