This Black Cast Iron Oval Cocotte by STAUB is ideal for stews, roasts and other dishes that need to cook slowly and gently in the oven. This is a 23cm casserole dish that will be a useful addition to your kitchen: measuring 14cm high and holding 2.35 litres, it is ideal for preparing the most diverse dishes. The cocotte is a versatile dish as it can be used in the oven and on all types of cooker, including induction hobs.

The secret of cocottes is their unique construction: STAUB relies on a carbon-rich bond between the cast iron and enamel coating. The coating largely consists of glass, guaranteeing outstanding heat conduction. The entire heat produced is distributed quickly and evenly, so that the Cocotte casserole dish heats up evenly from top to bottom.

An additional feature is the 'spiked' design of the lid. Condensation is produced during cooking and simmering that has to be returned to the cooking process. This is made possible by the special shape of the inside of the lid, which evenly distributes the water over your food. Meat remains beautifully tender and vegetables are allowed to develop their full flavour. Cast iron is also extremely durable and easy to use.
