An icon of British design, the Donkey is still made in the UK to this day.

The original Isokon Penguin Donkey was designed by Egon Riss in the late 1939. The compartments were the perfect size to store Penguin paperbacks - hence it's a Donkey carrying your Penguins! You can store your newspapers and magazines in the middle. The Donkey exhibits a flowing organic style using thin plywood to accommodate its pronounced curves.

It takes a skilled maker to craft a Penguin and it takes time too. The Isokon team makes furniture in small batches. Their veneers are handpicked; their oak logs meticulously sourced. They only work with the very best materials. Everything is handmade in their London workshop; their pieces are crafted to last forever
