Still by Simon Armitage (1st edition cloth-bound hardback)

£30.00

This is a 1st edition clothbound hardback copy of Still.

'Still' is a sequence of poems written by Simon Armitage in response to panoramic photographs of battlefields associated with the Battle of the Somme. The photographs also appear in the book.

'Still' was published on the centenary of the battle, which is considered to be one of the bloodiest in British military history. Consequently, Armitage’s thirty poems are versions of the infamously tense Georgics by the Roman poet Virgil.

The poems and photographs in this beautifully made book will stop you in your tracks.

Designed by Praline Design Studio and published by Enitharmon Press and the Imperial War Museums, Still is an 74 page large-scale landscape publication with introductory texts, contemporary maps, fold-outs and decorated endpapers.
