Tip Ton Side Chair - Glacier Blue - des. Edward Barber & Jay Osgerby, 2011 (made by Vitra)

£340.00

By: Vitra

The most striking characteristic of Tip Ton, designed by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby, is its forward-tilt function: the front edges of the runners are angled at nine degrees to allow the chair to tip slightly forward and remain in this position, thereby improving posture, blood circulation and concentration.

In a 2010 study, ETH Zurich – one of the world’s leading universities of applied sciences – investigated the health benefits of a forward-leaning sitting position. The results confirmed increased muscle activity in the abdominal and back areas, which boosts the supply of oxygen to all parts of the body. Tip Ton makes all of this possible for the first time ever in the form of an economical and robust plastic chair, thereby opening up many new areas of use.

Originally developed for a school in the English town of Tipton, the Tip Ton chair has since become established as a universal seating option, thanks to its perfectly proportioned design.
