Merdolino Toilet Brush - Brown - des. Stefano Giovannoni

By: Alessi

The well-known Merdolino Toilet Brush is one of the many successful examples of playful cartoon language that epitomise Stefano Giovannoni's iconic 1990s designs for Alessi. Without any hesitation, in Giovannoni's hands the toilet brush is reinvented as a slim brown pot housing a lovely green shrub. On its arrival, the Merdolino Toilet Brush caused a scandal among the conventional design fraternity but has enjoyed enormous success throughout the decades since.

About Stefano Giovannoni:

Born in La Spezia in 1954, Giovannoni is an architect and designer who founded the King-Kong Production Group along with Guido Venturini in the early 80s. A technical designer par excellence, Giovannoni has industrial design in his DNA and the capacity to understand public sentiment like no other designer. His projects began with the Girotondo (1989 designed with Guido Venturini) and the first transparent objects in plastic from the Family Follows Fiction series (1993). There are a huge number of Givannoni's items in the Officina Alessi, Alessi and A di Alessi catalogues.
