Twirling Bird - Smoked Oak, Large - des. Jacob Hermann (1958) produced by Warm Nordic
£56.95
Unique turning birds in wood, designed in the 50s by the Danish furniture architect and a true artist in processing wood, Jacob Hermann, and now put into production by Warm Nordic.
The Twirling Birds were created with both artistic sense and great empathy by the Danish furniture architect Jacob Hermann, who saw possibilities in even the smallest piece of wood. The first birds of many were originally created from scraps of wood and even roots that he found on the beach on the west coast of Jutland.
The starting point for Jacob Hermann's design was wood as a living material with warmth and soul, and he had each and every bird in his hands many times during the process, before the birds were ready to leave the wood workshop. In the 50s, Jacob Hermann's birds were exported to countries such as Japan, France and the USA via Den Permanente, which was a gateway to the world for the finest Danish handicrafts.
The twirling birds each have their own personality, which is determined by the grain and colour of the wood, and can be used both for decoration and for play.
The fine birds come in a beautiful box, which also makes them perfect as a sweet gift for someone you care about.
